Joint Stock Company “RĪGAS ELEKTROMAŠĪNBŪVES RŪPNĪCA” continues the implementation of the research “Design and Development of AC Electric Train Traction Converter” within the project “Energy and Transport Competence Center”. Project number No. 1.2.1.1/18/A/001-21. During the implementation of the research, calculations of electric train movement parameters and converter heating were performed. The results of the calculations were summarized in a preliminary report, on the basis of which the parameters of the converter components were determined. A large number of scientific journals and publications were analyzed to select modern solutions for the design of the traction converter. The acquired knowledge will be applied during the design of control algorithms and important components.
For the first three months of the research, half of the work planned in the first activity was completed. In the future work it will be necessary to create a specification of procurement components and start designing a traction converter.
